The journey not the arrival matters

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” – St. Augustine

When I travel, I feel such an exhilarating feeling through the adventures that I experience. It reminds me of when I was a child and would ride the roller coasters at Canada's Wonderland! When the ride was just about to start, I'd be excited, but with that jittery, scared feeling at the same time!  It's amazing that we can board various types of transportation and arrive at a foreign land where there are extreme differences that you aren't used to seeing.  From the architecture, customs, food, fashion, etc.  I love the great outdoors and for me, there is nothing better than hiking/trekking through a forest, jungle, mountain or desert!  I've always been intrigued with animals and love to watch them in action! I've had the pleasure of interacting with elephants, monkeys, camels, bats and snakes! In the summer of 2009, my wife and I traveled across Europe, Morocco, Middle East & South East Asia. It was a trip that I will never forget.  To travel from one extreme culture to the next really puts life into perspective.  As you respect each culture and its beliefs, it's difficult to overlook the fact people tend to live by a particular tradition and frame of mind, following unique rules and rituals.  This can create a strong spiritual side with some, making their love stronger towards their higher power; toward people, nature and life.  Where in others, it can inspire a sort of negative energy- one of segregation and ignorance.  Is it wrong or right? Who knows! But I found that travel has made me a well rounded individual with a zest for life.
